Trend Alert: Playing with Textures

To my dearest:

This week, I’m sharing a fun trend and styling tips for it! Playing with textures is nothing new and there’s always an abundance of textures to play with. However, I find that the ease of playing with different textures has been much easier this past year. The trend of “loud fashion” has definitely been “in” and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

This year, the fur texture made a huge come back. Maybe just two years ago, wearing a fur jacket was too over the top for every day. But, not anymore! This season, you’ll see trains of people wearing fur walking around the city – from animal prints to snazzy red fur on men and women alike!

Leather, patent, and suede has always been little subtle accents in terms of playing with texture. When added to a classic design, it immediately changes the look. But, can we just call it the “classics of textures”?

Denim is another classic, but fun texture. It’s so common that you forget it can even be counted as a texture! But, yes, a little denim goes a long way on an outfit!

Last Friday, I played photographer in the city and just pulled up this outfit in a matter of minutes before I rushed out the house. The texture however, made the outfit an instant show stealer! Worthy for a potential upcoming NYFW outfit too!

The pink fuzzy fur details was probably the highlight of the outfit. The pink tone brightens the overall outfit. The fuzzy fur was a fun added texture. The patent leather gave just the right dose of shine. It’s just a moto jacket. But hey, the details made it much more unique than your average moto jacket. It paired perfectly with ripped denim for an extra dose of “texture fun”.

The cherry on top was the added burgundy tone camera bag. It wasn’t my intention. I just grabbed my camera bag and left the house. The burgundy meshed extremely well with the pink tones and over black. Slipped on a pair of black leather ankle boots and I was good to go!

It was simple, but the use of textures was what made this outfit fun. Pink fuzzy fur, patent leather, ripped black denim, black leather. Little things come a long way for an outfit. What really made this outfit was obviously the pink fuzzy fur moto jacket! The fit is slightly oversized for petites. I am wearing an XS and I have space to layer. It’s actually good and preferable that it’s slightly oversized because I prefer to wear more layers underneath when it’s cold. The sleeves are slightly long on me, I could probably hem 1 inch off it.

But, what’s awesome is that, it’s currently on sale for under $50! I got it without the discount a while ago and I’m biting my lip for it. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be sharing this with you all! Enjoy the steep discount on this bundle of joy! And write back and let me know what textures are your favorite to play with when styling your outfit!

Ripped denim, huh? Even for guys, I see this trend still happening quite a bit. Just last week at church, one of the leaders had ripped knees in his jeans. Anything can be stylish if you wear it right, I guess. Thanks for sharing!

All I can say is that you look stunning in that outft. I can imagine how important it would be to have the extra space to enable you to layer better during the winter.
