TL;DR: Life Update and Weight Loss Plans

To my dearest:

Happy Thursday everyone! Today, I wanted to discuss my current weight loss challenge with you guys! So here is the TL;DR update of my life – I recently got invited to participate in another pageant held in San Francisco to represent New York this upcoming February!

I’m at the age cut off limit, which means it’s the last chance for me to go, so my family and friends has been very supportive and urged me to go. I only looked at my scale and chuckled. I gained about 10 pounds since my pageant days… do I really want to work hard and shed about 10 pounds plus in roughly 3 months? The hard work I’d need to put into it was the most off putting! However, under much encouragement, I decided it was time I started to get in shape and live healthily again anyway! So why not have the extra motivation? So thus, began my journey!

Diet and fitness go hand in hand in this game – obviously. I know how important fitness is. I’m WAS an active gym junkie, until I froze my membership in May due to my busy schedule traveling for work and the likes. My membership activates again in November, so I’ll start my fitness again soon enough. But for now, let’s just talk about my diet goals.

I started eating more clean about two weeks ago. I realize it’s going to take time transition because honestly, for the past year I’ve been eating junk over junk. I’m not eating completely clean at the moment, but I am trying to eat clean at least two meals a day and only eat out a maximum of three meals a week during the weekends. It’s been hard these two weeks though because of family gatherings, post-funeral gatherings and of course a week long celebration of my boyfriend’s birthday. So I’ve been eating out almost every other day unfortunately. Later, down the road I hope to cut down to just one meal out per week as a cheat meal and eat clean for the rest of the week.

I’ve been on and off dieting and living a healthy life style all my life. I usually do small meals throughout the day and eat around five to six small meals a day. However, I’ve recently stumbled onto something on the net called intermittent fasting and my mom mentioned it to me as well! So I decided to give it a try.

Intermittent fasting is also called the 16/8 diet – and for a very good reason, you fast for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours. The purpose is for your body to use the fat it already has stored.

“It [intermittent fasting] gets your body out of ‘storage mode’ and mobilises fat stores for energy,” said certified dietitian Leslie Langevin, MS, RD, CD, of Whole Health Nutrition.

I have yet to try this for long term to state results, but that’s the plan I’m aiming for now. I will keep everyone updated with my latest diet news and report back with results. Everyone’s diet is different, so what may work for me may not work for you. However, I do love the idea of sharing this journey with you guys!

Have any of you guys tried this before? Do you guys have any tips to recommend me? Do write back and let me know! I’ll be updating from time to time with methods I’m using as well and my progress! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Best of luck in getting back into the eating healthy/fitness game. I’m working on that too – it’s a work in progress, as usual, but it’s going well.

Good luck with it! I have no advice as I love food too much and don’t ever diet, ha. I just up my jogging if I’m getting chunkier.

That’s why dieting is the worst! It’s so hard to stay on track. The healthier you eat, the more you will continue to do so, and be able to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The idea of intermittent diet is completely different way of eating that I was taught and starvation mode.

Good luck to you. We started a paleo diet a few months back with 1 cheat night a week. It is doing very well for us!

I have not heard of this diet. Although I have skipped meals I’m not understanding the 8 hour deal. Is this multiple meals?

I have never done any diet but the funny thing is my boyfriend says that I’m always on the Intermittent fasting.. always traveling, not enough time to eat (specially healthy) so I could spend long hours without eating but not on purpose. You can do anything you set your mind to! Go girl!!

Good luck! Dieting is so tough no matter which form you choose. I have a friend who does this, and she’s had a lot of really great success with it.

It’s always important to plain a good diet and research well! your article is so detailed. wishing you all the best of luck! I too, am planning the same thing. I’m serious about it this time. I want it to be a lifestyle change rather than just a diet.

I think eating healthy and being healthy is a state of being. If you make an effort to make healthy choices for everything; including your exercise patterns everything will fall into place.
I have never fasted; I prefer to just make good choices like tea instead of coffee etc etc

Hi Kiri! Thanks for dropping by. I definitely agree that it is a life style. It’s not just a fast. It’s a life style of choice. It’s like how some people don’t eat past 6pm or something like that. It’s just something that supplements as part of a healthier life style. Hope that makes sense. 🙂

I hope you stick with it. I need to get back into it as well!

I don’t really have any diet tips to share, so I’ll just say good luck! It’s fun to get the last hurrah in before you’re no longer able to do it!

I wish you a good luck to achieve your goal… I need to start gym in other 2 weeks as I just gave birth to a baby girl 4 weeks ago 😀
