Premium Designer Shoes: Worth it? | TALK

To my dearest:

Today, let’s talk premium designer shoes. I recently had a conversation with a close girl friend of mine. We were just chattering away about investment pieces in our wardrobe. And somehow, we ended up talking about shoes. The discussion is somewhere along the lines of whether designer shoes can be considered an investment and whether they’re worth it or not. And we found ourselves on separate sides of the spectrum. She didn’t believe to splurge on designer shoes, while I was a firm believer… in certain circumstances.

I’m sure there’s plenty of ladies who don’t believe in splurging money on a pair of designer shoes, let alone premium designer shoes. The reason would be that, unlike bags or other things, once you wear them, they lose their value. And shoes tarnish the fastest out of everything that you can own. They are against the ground every moment after all. So how can anyone justify spending so much money on a pair of shoes?

Well shoes are magical. Say, shoes and you’ll probably think of Cinderella off the top of your head. Remember how she said, “one shoe can change your life.”? Okay, maybe not. But remember all those other magical stories? Puss in boots. The story of her (since it’s a feline) transformation with a pair of boots. Or Wizard of Oz. Dorothy’s ruby red slippers that led her way home is something that one would never forget. In fairy tales, it seems that shoes make or break the heroine.

Our world is no different.

“Give a girl the right shoe and she can conquer the world.”, says Marilyn Monroe.

And that’s something that holds true. Shoes symbolize a woman’s status to a certain degree. Just why oh why are those red framed Louboutins so coveted? Why is “Devil Wears Prada” so popular? Well… cause no matter how much we try to deny it. Shoes are just that important to a woman.

Many other designers echo this.

Christian Dior says, “You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes. Too many women think that they are unimportant, but the real proof of an elegant woman is what is on her feet.”

Coco Chanel says, “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”

Those are just a few examples, but WOW, what bold statements. It’s like a good pair of shoes is the essence to your entire outfit. I think we just about hit the mark. And good shoes carry you a long way. While I don’t agree you should splurge on just any pair of shoes. If you see a pair you really like, you think will last a long time, don’t be afraid to invest in it and add it to your wardrobe. No dupe will give you the same feeling you have with the real pair. And I have to say, most premium designer shoes I have are way more comfortable and well made than any other shoes I own. There will be some that are uncomfortable. You can’t expect 5 inch heels to be comfortable! So shop around and see what your feet fall in love with and don’t deny them of their love! The possibilities are endless! I’m not saying stock your whole shoe closet with only premium designer shoes. Feel free to mix and match! What I’m sharing with you here is, don’t be afraid. They’re worth the investment. Way more than you think. Own a pair and you’ll know!

Thank you for sticking by! Let me know what you think about premium designer shoes and whether you think they’re worth the investment or not. I’m not here to persuade, but just to share my thoughts on the topic! Feel free to discuss and write back to me!

Unfortunately I dont own any designer shoes. To be honest, I can’t even walk in heels lol

Doesn’t have to be heels. My designer flats are the most comfortable I’ve ever owned!

Back when I was younger, I wouldn’t have thought anything about getting expensive shoes. Now I am a mom and I just can’t justify it.

I love the price comparisons that you make. While it’s true that when you pay a high tag you are only paying for the name of the brand, which most people don’t notice anyways. Comfort is key.

Designer shoes are good if you know how to take care of them and if they serve a genuine purpose. If they’re just going to sit in your closet waiting for you to get a random invitation that will call for them, there’s really no point having them. If you’re going to treat them like you would discount shoes, there’s really no point having them. If you do have them, I know how to take care of them, they can last you a long time, make you feel like 1 million bucks, and give you a sense and appearance of class that no other shoes can.

I had a friend in college who owned A LOT of sneakers, and she ended up selling them on eBay for so much money! I agree that shoes can be an investment.

I personally couldn’t spend the money on designer shoes. Since I own a house now, I’d much rather spend the money on home improvements. Or books, if I’m being honest. I’ve never been a shoe person, but you look fabulous in yours!

I like both but can only afford cheap shoes and besides I tend to ruin shoes so quickly so I would be devastated if I scuffed my imaginary pair of Louboutins aha. Still I think we all have the right to choose xx

I used to be a HUGE shoe 👠 fanatic until I accidentally became a minimalist when we moved full time into our RV 🚎 To travel !! I could not take all of my shoes with me but I did keep one pair of designer shoes Lol 😂 I couldn’t help myself

I absolutely love shoes. However, I find that these cute shoes are available in Steve Madden’s store all the time and not as expensive, which means that I can afford them 😉

I love these quotes from the celebs of style – but yet I mostly try to purchase comfortable footwear, haha! I have kinda painful feet… but I am so happy that comfort lines like Aerosoles are coming out with fashionable footwear now!!!

would love to pick up a pair of designer shoes for summer. I will be in NYC next month. I will have to see what I can find.

  13. May 16, 2017 / 2:48 AM

OOh are those the Valentino Rockstudd shoes in your picture? I must admit I absolutely love shoes. I have far too many pairs that I don’t even wear. They can really change an outfit.

  14. May 16, 2017 / 8:15 AM

They are gorgeous shoes. I wish I could say that I own designer shoes but alas I do not. I live in sandals and sneakers!

I love shoes, it’s my weakness and I think buying designer shoes is a good investment. The quality is just amazing. Shoes can definitely add character especially if you’re wearing a simple outfit. You can never say no to designer shoes especially when you’re into fashion.

  16. May 16, 2017 / 2:14 PM

All of the shoes are super cute. The only ones that I could wear are the slip on or the sneakers. I just too tall for those heels. 🙂

  17. May 16, 2017 / 3:51 PM

NYC is a long way from where I am in Texas and I’m sure fashion is completely different! I wish I could justify a super expensive pair of shoes, but here in the south, people prefer an expensive pair of boots to a petite pair of heels. 😉

  18. May 16, 2017 / 4:22 PM

As much as I prefer quality over price at any time. Designer shoes tend to come in only petite sizes. If you got large feet forget it. I still love seeing them on people’s feet though. It’s always so beautiful.

  19. May 16, 2017 / 10:12 PM

I love shoes. I’ve soft spot for it and used to spent a lot on designer shoes when I was younger. After my back injury, the only shoes I could wear are comfortable flats. I love a good shoes no matter the price.

  20. May 16, 2017 / 11:23 PM

I love shoes! If I could afford designer shoes, I would splurge once in a while. But for now, I look for shoe sales 🙂

  21. May 17, 2017 / 12:00 AM

I love shoes, but I don’t think I could really afford designer shoes. Plus, only gym shoes or closed-toed shoes are allowed at my job, where I am most of the time.

  22. May 17, 2017 / 5:58 AM

These are all awesome designer shoes. I don’t think I could every spend that much on a pair of shoes but would defenetly check them out if I ever get to NYC The Prada Metallic Leather Creeper Platform Slides are shoes I would love to have for sure. Thanks for sharing these awesome shoes.

I also think that shoes are investment. Sadly, I have no designer shoes right now simply because I can’t afford it and it’s really not a necessity for me.

  24. May 17, 2017 / 10:13 AM

Those shoes looks amazing. I hope one day I will have more that 3 pair of shoes :)) Right now I don’t see the reason to spend the money on clothes or shoes as I’m going to a change in my live. But I like to look at photos with nice shoes and clothes.

  25. May 17, 2017 / 2:42 PM

Though I hate overspending but I agree with you. One or two designer shoes in the wardrobe are an investment and not a waste of money!

  26. May 17, 2017 / 3:46 PM

Wow, what an eye opening revelation over the power of our shoes. I believe it is true the quality/appearance of a woman’s shoes define allot about her character, as much as we may not like to admit it.

I can’t say I can bring myself to spend 700 dollars on one pair of shoes, but I have definitely been known to spit out 300. I don’t shop for shoes often, I want them to last, and I want them to hold true through all the crazy fads that may come and go.

    • May 17, 2017 / 4:17 PM

Def understand what you’re saying! Classics are a must!

  27. May 17, 2017 / 3:53 PM

Perhaps you should promote the idea not of the aesthetic beauty of the shoes but look at it from another 2 angles.
First: High End Shoes should outlast other shoes due to the quality. Therefore a $200 pair of shoes should outlast a pair of $100 shoes by two fold.
Second – High End Shoes should provide more physical comfort. If they are made of hardened Glass (as Dorothy’s shoes were in the actual wizard of Oz) then they are painful and will contribute to possible physical issues. But a good quality pair of shoes should provide comfort, balance, as well as security from outside elements. Thus they would be worth the investment

    • May 17, 2017 / 4:04 PM

Yep! Completely agree with you! I did mention comfort and the points you mentioned. Most designer shoes I have outlast my other pairs and are way more comfortable! 🙂

  28. May 17, 2017 / 4:00 PM

I agree with investing in a good pair of shoes. I hate going over board but I’m all for being comfortable and looking good.

  29. May 18, 2017 / 12:14 AM

Great point girl. I’m with you on this, i always love a pair of designer shoes!

  30. May 18, 2017 / 3:07 AM

Designer shoes are all the rave – I believe one should just buy and wear what makes one feel confident and beautiful. I prefer durability and comfort over the labels.

  31. May 18, 2017 / 4:23 PM

I don’t own any designer shoes and I guess I’m with your friend on this one, I buy comfortable affordable shoes.

  32. May 22, 2017 / 6:17 PM

I am a lover for a nice pair of shoe. I love everything that is fashion.

  33. June 2, 2017 / 6:59 AM

shoes for days!! great selection! wish I could afford to buy designer ones. Someday hopefully. In the meantime I’ll enjoy seeing you rock them.
