To my dearest:
I’m not sure if you know, but Summer is actually hurricane season down in Florida. That means, sporadic rain throughout the day – sometimes just drizzles, sometimes it’ll down right pour. I didn’t do much research, and headed down there. Upon arrival, it was already raining. Walking down the streets, I saw countless people walking around without an umbrella. I didn’t know why at the time, and found it strange. Later, I found out that rain in Miami Beach is very unpredictable, so it’s either you always carry an umbrella or you’ll easily get rained on. Most locals are probably accustomed to it.
However, that’s why it’s important when planning a trip to Miami Beach during the Summer, to not just plan for beach and sunshine. It’s always important to have a second set of plans for indoors, in case it rains! I’ve done my research and experienced it first hand. So let me share with you all!

Relaxing Spa Dates at Hotels
I found this to be the number one on my list. That is because the rain in Miami Beach is really infrequent. The best idea is to spend the day at a hotel spa. This enables you to be able to enjoy the resort within the hotel when it rains. You can lounge at the bar, use their indoor facilities and get a pampering treatment. Most hotels in Miami Beach (South Beach per say) will connect to a beach. So, once the skies clear up, you can easily access the beach. If it rains, you can always go back indoors to the hotel. I found this to be the most effective. Also, for the month of July to August, Miami Beach is doing a special Spa Month, so there will be discounts on many spa services. Check my review of it here for recommendations.
Shopping
Shopping is always a good way to spend some time when it’s only lightly drizzling. Good ones to check out are Bal Harbor Shops and Aventura Mall for high end luxury retail. Whereas, Lincoln Road Mall and Bayside Market Place will be choices for more down to earth shopping – with shops such as Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Forever 21, Superdry and the likes.
Visit a Museum
They have a good selection of museums and depending on what you like or who you’re with. They have Perez Art Museum for those who like art. It’s sleek, has a great view, with a fabulous on site restaurant. They have a Miami Children’s Museum if you’re going with a child. If you like gardens and rustic interior design, the Vizcaya Museum and Garden is a must. If you’re like me and love cars and films, I would recommend the Miami Auto Museum. They have over 1200 cars on display with a James Bond exhibition as well as a Batman one. I bet I caught your attention now huh! And if you’re feeling eccentric. There’s a World Erotic Art Museum right in South Beach.
Lounge at a Hotel and Enjoy Afternoon Tea
Rainy days are the perfect time to relax and sit down for a glass of wine at a hotel lounge or enjoy afternoon tea. Miami SoBeach is famous for it’s partying. But who is to say, one can’t find some quiet alone time to relax. Catch up with friends over tea or a glass of wine. Or maybe just spend some quiet time with a book. It can’t get any better than that. Not to mention, once skies clear up, the beach is right near by you! Check out my favorite pick here! It’s pretty awesome and exclusive to Bal Harbor Miami!

Spend the day at the Aquarium
I must say, I’m a lover of the sea world. I love visiting different Aquariums across the world. Miami has a great one – the Miami Seaquarium! It’s indoors and there’s plenty to do for children and adults alike. If you run out of ideas, this one will definitely keep you entertained.
It’s not much, but that’s how I spent my rainy days during my visit in Miami Beach. How about you? Have you got rained in when visiting Miami Beach before? Do share your tips if you have. And I hope this post will help you, if you’re planning on visiting Miami Beach during the rainy season!

Miami is essentialy a dream destination.. Didn’t know it rains that heavily there
Museums are always a great idea when the weather is bad. I would not go shopping because carrying all the bags in the street under the rain… Afternoon tea would be the ultimate treat! xx corinne
It doesn’t matter where I am or what the weather is. It’s always a good time to eat! 😛
I would love a nice spa day! Especially when there is nothing else to do! Love the idea of going to a museum as well!
I haven’t been to Miami in years, I loved all your photos and ideas of what to do while visiting the area. ! They have some beautiful beaches and great shopping!
These sound like some absolutely fantastic things to do in Miami, I would love to go for a Spa day that would be such fun!
Such great ideas! It is raining where I am today. I love going to museums.
These are fabulous ideas. Now I need to get to Miami. I’ve always heard how great it is.
This is how Houston is as well (hey Hurricane fam!), but I love that you included different activities for different people. I haven’t been to Miami in awhile, but now I really want to go back.
I love museums and can get lost in them for hours! I haven’t been to Miami in a long time! Sure do like these suggestions though for next time time I do visit 💕💕
Miami is a place I die to visit! It is my dream place. If it rains or not you’ll find all over Miami 🙂
I love having backup plans when traveling. What a great list of places to visit in Miami when the weather is too rainy!
What a great set of rainy-day activities when facing a downpour in Miami! My favorite from your list is visiting a museum. 🙂
I’ve been to Miami twice and the weather was gorgeous however we had a couple of thunderstorms but they didn’t last for too long. I think my most fave activity would still be shopping , you can spend hours shopping in Macy’s without the need of going out

Going to museums and spa is a great idea. I need to check the weather before going there so as not to spoil my vacation.
This is such a great idea. With the help of this post , I know what to do in Miami beach when it rains.

I wasn’t out in Miami at any time, but I do remember being out in Florida. It was just too crazy with all the rain and just having to be ready for almost any type of weather at any moment . . . except snow maybe. And the air was so thick that you felt like you were eating it. Great ideas of preparation.
When it rains during vacation, I opt for a whole body massage and spending time to the spa, or onsen spa is much better. Makes me more relax. I think Florida is still amazing even its raining.
I would totally opt for a spa day! Anytime I can lol
Living in South Florida these are all great options. We love to go to Bayside and watch the cruise ships depart! Another great shopping options are the giant outlet malls, Dolphin Mall and sawgrass mills mall
I would love to visit Miami and for me can even rain every day! anyway I want to see that place
Spa, shopping and hot coffee would be wonderful and so relaxing. Miami is just one of so many places that I wanted to visit.
Great ideas! I could just also be happy with watching the ocean
I read shopping and I was like yes, that’s what I wanna do! Lol!
What a smart udea to offer tips on where to hang out when the beaches are closed due to rainfall. I’d tuck myself indoors with a good book and maybe a movie.
How fun! Miami is such a cool place, I love the idea of lounging by a hotel or restaurant with hot cocoa while it rains outside.
I love this – I didn’t think there would be so much to do in Miami Beach for those unexpected rains!
