To my dearest:
Happy Monday! Today, let’s talk about how to accentuate outfits. I find that details are everything when it comes to giving your outfit that little oomph! The outfit accent I love are embellished collars. I find it so simple and easy. Plus, it saves me some time from thinking about what jewelry to wear at my neckline!
Embellished collar pieces are often a little bit more expensive than regular pieces, because it’s like having a piece of jewelry sown onto your top! However, it’s so so worth it! I love simple and basic tops, to pair an abundance of fun accessories with and to transform it to thousands of styles! But, it’s always nice to have variety and switch it up a bit!
I’m sharing with you all, one of my favorite embellished collar top in my closet. This is an older top from Express. I have this in an XS. The halter is detailed with pretty stones and immediately catches the eye and makes a statement. The material is chiffon layered on top of silk. Since this is an older piece, you can’t find it online or in stores at Express anymore. However, I found a similar one online at Tobi on sale for only $12 and it comes in Black, White, and Light Blue with most sizes still available!
I paired this with a pair of Elora Swing Shorts from Tobi. The swing shorts make it look like a hybrid between skirt and shorts. The blush looks super pretty and feminine against the silver-toned jewels and white. I didn’t need much accessorizing with the top and bottom combo. I think it made enough of an impact by itself styled that way. I went with a classic little black purse to match. And decided to clash metal colors by pairing rose gold jewelry with the silver-toned embellished color to further accentuate the collar.
What do you think of embellished collars? Do you find that it limits your wardrobe possibilities – so it’s a no go? Or do you think it’s worth it for the variety and dashing accent? Write back and let me know your thoughts!
For reference, I am 5 feet 2 inches. I typically wear XS/S or 0-4 for apparel and 6.5-7.5 for shoes.
