Cherry Blossoms Chasing in New York City

To my dearest:

Hello dearies! I’m back! And today, I want to share my cherry blossoms chasing adventures with you all and share some locations where you can chase cherry blossoms this beautiful weekend in New York. Spring has sprung in New York, and this weekend is a consistent high 60’s! So it’s the perfect time to go chasing these beautiful flowers!

Roosevelt Island

The first location I went to was Roosevelt Island. I went the weekend of April 14th to see if they’ll bloom early. Also primarily to avoid the crowd that would gather for the Cherry Blossom Festival that would take place there the week after. I knew I wouldn’t be able to take serene shots like these if I went there during festival weekend. So I wanted to test my luck. The blooms were still there, but as you can tell, it’s not really peak bloom yet. Unlike the famous blooms at Tidal Basin in Washington DC. We don’t really have a network to tell us when peak bloom really is in New York. I searched far and wide and couldn’t find much information. So I tested my luck. Well, I would say, it didn’t turn out half bad.

I managed to enjoy and set up a sweet little picnic there. It was a good experience and very serene. There were not too many people so I was able to get shots like these without the crowd. You also get the see the cherry blossom buds before they reach peak bloom, which is beautiful in it’s own accord. In my artistic sense, I found it to be fresh and youthful.

As you can see, my pup thoroughly enjoyed the picnic with me. He had a ton of fun. And I must say, the view here is spectacular. Especially when it’s this empty! You get to take in the city view, the water, the cherry blossoms, and bits and pieces of nature.

Central Park

The weekend of April 21st was supposed to be full bloom in New York. I’d assume so, since the Cherry Blossom Festival was supposed to be held this week. I ventured to Central Park to avoid the festival crowd. And surely enough it’s a pretty sight! There were plenty of different types of Cherry Blossom trees and Magnolia flowers too if you’re interested in that! I was sick, but wanted to catch them in full bloom, so I went through this while having bronchitis. Can’t tell I was sick huh? Make up truly does wonders! But, really I was dead by the second tree, so I couldn’t catch the magnolias.

The trees here are all very gorgeous and you can take such scenic shots. You can refer to a full list of where to find cherry blossom trees in Central Park here. For me, these shots were taken at the 74th street entrance location by the Boathouse. Other locations I would personally recommend would be Bridal Path at 90th street, and across from Belvedere Castle. Those two locations are a bit more romantic! The remaining pictures I am going to post will still be at the Central Park location, but I’ll share a few more spots of which you can try to catch these blossoms!

Brooklyn Botanical Garden

This is probably one of the most popular and sure fire places you can catch them. If you’re running behind catching them, you’ll probably be sure to find them here! I know peak bloom is already over. However, the weather has been mild this week, so you can likely still catch them this weekend!

New York Botanical Garden

This is another given. But it’s abundance will leave you in awe. It’s a good spot to catch them if you can’t venture to Brooklyn Botanical Garden. This would be my second choice though. Would definitely recommend Brooklyn Botanical Garden for it’s consistency.

Madison Square Garden/Flatiron Building

You’ll find this park to have a good bunch of cherry blossom trees. If you want New York City view with these blossoms, this will be your best bet! Take in the city vibes with nature!

Greenwood Cemetery

It’s in Brooklyn and a popular location. You’ll find the mixed vibes of beautiful blossoms and white tombstones to be a more artsy mix than you would imagine it to be. It’s actually picturesque in it’s own special genre.

________________________

That’s about all the locations I have for you for now! If you’re looking to chase the final look of cherry blossoms, hurry to it this weekend! They are only here for a limited amount of time every year, so if you miss it, you’ll have to wait another year! They’re just breathtaking to the eyes and as you can see, make for such gorgeous photo opps! So, take the opportunity, this warm weekend and go chase these beauties!

Let me know if you’ll be chasing cherry blossoms wherever you are! Or if you already did! Can’t wait to hear back from you all! Enjoy a lovely weekend!
